Adding players
Players are what teams bid on. Every player has a starting (base) price and goes through the auction in this order:
in queue → currently being auctioned → sold or unsold
Option A — Add players one by one
Best when you have a small list (under 30) and want to type them in yourself.
- Click Players in the left sidebar
- Click + Add player at the top right
- Fill in:
| Field | What it is | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Name | The player's full name | Shakib Rahman |
| Photo | Headshot (we crop it to 300×300) | Upload a JPG or PNG |
| Base price | Starting price for the bidding | ৳50,000 |
| Category | Group players by skill — Elite, Regular, or New | Elite |
| Position | Their playing role | All-rounder |
| Jersey number | The number on their kit (optional) | 7 |
| Profession | Their day job (optional, just for the audience) | Software engineer |
| Batting style | Right-hand bat / Left-hand bat (cricket only) | Right-hand bat |
| Bowling style | Spin / pace style (cricket only) | Right-arm off-spin |
- Click Save
Option B — Import from Excel or CSV
Best when you have 30+ players already in a spreadsheet.
- Click Players → Import at the top
- Click Download template to get a CSV file with the right columns
- Open the template in Excel or Google Sheets, fill in your players (one per row), save as CSV
- Click Choose file, pick your CSV, and click Import
If any rows have errors (missing name, invalid number, etc.), we'll show you a list — fix them and try again.
Option C — Let players register themselves
Best when you want players to fill in their own details + pay a registration fee.
- Click Seasons in the sidebar → click Public registration on your active season
- Turn the toggle on, set your registration fee
- (Recommended) Open the Form builder to add custom fields you care about — district, contact, payment proof, etc. See Customizing the registration form
- Copy the public link (
auctionball.com/r/abc123…) and share it with players
Submitted players show up in Pending for you to approve before they enter the auction queue.
Player categories — how to use them
Categories don't change the auction logic; they're just for sorting. Common patterns:
- Elite — A+ players, marquee names, foreign signings
- Regular — your main pool of players
- New — first-tournament / uncapped players
The big screen and rosters page sort and group by category.
Moving players around
You can move a player between statuses (queue → sold → unsold → queue) any time. Click any player in the list to edit them.
This is handy when:
- A sold player drops out and you want to re-auction them
- An unsold player becomes available later (someone canceled, you want to bring them back)
- You're rehearsing the auction and want to reset everything
When you reset a player, any bids on them are cleared and the buying team's budget is restored.
