The big-screen view

The Big screen is what your audience watches — the TV at the venue, the projector on the wall, the LED billboard at the back of the room. Everyone in the room is looking at this; only the auctioneer is touching the laptop.

Open it

In the left sidebar, click Big screen. The page opens in cinematic fullscreen mode — huge fonts, dark background, dramatic colors.

For the actual auction night:

  • Connect a TV or projector to your laptop
  • Open the Big screen page on that screen
  • Press F11 (Windows) or Ctrl+Cmd+F (Mac) to go fullscreen — this hides the browser address bar so it looks clean
  • Walk away from it — the screen updates automatically as the auctioneer drives the auction

What's on screen

  • Top header — your tournament name, season, and a status pill (RUNNING, PAUSED, or WAITING) with a pulsing dot
  • Left panel — the current player: large photo, name, position, base price, batting/bowling style, jersey number
  • Center top — the CURRENT BID in giant gradient text, with the leading team's name underneath
  • Center bottom — the TIMER in MM : SS format, also huge so the back row can see it
  • Right panel — the BID HISTORY (the last 8 bids, with the latest highlighted)
  • Bottom strip — every team's remaining budget with progress bars

SOLD and UNSOLD animations

When a player is finalized:

  • Sold — a giant stamp animation slams onto the screen showing the price and "Player Name to Team Name". It holds for 5 seconds and then fades out.
  • Unsold — a permanent ink stamp design (like a real "UNSOLD" rubber stamp) lands on the screen with today's date. It stays until the next player loads.

These animations are designed to give the audience a clear visual moment — like a real-life auction hammer drop.

Tips for the venue

  • Use a wired internet connection if you can. Wi-Fi at venues can be unstable, and even small drops cause the bid display to lag.
  • Test from the back of the room. The fonts auto-scale to your screen size, but venue lighting matters too. If it's hard to read from the back, dim the venue lights.
  • Hide the browser bar. Press F11 (Windows) or Ctrl+Cmd+F (Mac) to make the browser go fullscreen.
  • Disable screensaver and sleep mode on the venue computer so it doesn't black out mid-auction.

Multiple big screens? No problem

You can open the big-screen page on as many devices as you like — they all show the same live auction. We've seen tournaments run with 6 screens at once (main hall, second hall, lobby, side rooms) without any issues.

"Powered by AuctionBall" footer

The Free and Starter plans show a small "powered by AuctionBall" watermark in the bottom-right corner. The Pro and Enterprise plans hide it — your tournament looks fully your own.
